This companion for your Kindle device lets you access and manage any number of vocabulary lookups and notes for a more illuminating reading experience. #Kindle Reading #Kindle Vocabulary #Kindle Clipping #Kindle #Ebook #Vocabulary
Amazon’s Kindle device has all but revolutionized the way eBooks are meant to be read: you can read them in many formats, yet Kindle seems to always be mentioned whenever one looks up recommendations for eBook readers.
Saving vocabulary words and passages of note is possible through the device, and fittingly, Kindle Companion is a solution that can act as a companion for your reading by letting you access your saved vocabulary lookups with ease.
Users will initially have to select their Kindle profile. If you already use the Kindle app, you should very easily be able to locate and have everything ready without much trouble. If you do not, however, it’s best to download it and sign in with your respective account, then wait a bit for your profile data to be downloaded.
After specifying your profile, working with the app should be easy enough. Any books you’ve added to your library will be displayed on the main interface, which I’d say the program does a good job with, balancing ease of use with a simple, but functional design.
Clicking a book will display some data about it, as well as its respective Words and Clippings sections. Each Words entry will have its usage presented, next to which is the stem and saving timestamp. The Clippings section is still a work in progress, however, so that’s likely to come at a later time.
Conveniently, an overview of your saved words, regardless of the books you’ve saved them from, can be seen from the main interface. Click an entry, and you’ll see its usage, the book it’s from, and the date when it was saved.
It’s worth noting that offline access can be set up through the app, which gives you the possibility to peruse your saved words without requiring an internet connection. Keeping up with multiple profiles is another feature I should mention.
Kindle Companion is an interesting little app which I think can be quite good for users looking to attain more a more elevated vocabulary through reading.
