Cash Register

Cash Register is a lightweight tool that you can use as an actual cash register on your computer.

The application displays a straightforward interface which only makes it that much more easier to use. It provides you with all the keys you normally find on a real cash register. You also get options to show and print the receipt, as well as view a log for the transactions and prints.

If you find yourself using a set of numbers quite often, you can assign those numbers to one of the custom keys. This way, when for example you need to type in the 9.99 price, you can simply hit one of the custom keys and it is automatically added. You get a decent number of these keys and to be able to separate them apart, you can add custom labels to them. These buttons can be rest to their initial state anytime so you can replace them with other values.

Cash Register also provides you with the means to define the tax rate. You can add whole numbers or decimals, according to your case. While you type in the sums that make the purchases, the application records them and places them in separate logs in TXT files which you can then open and view. Such a log can display all the purchases, the sales tax, total and change given. And since you need to keep track of all the purchases and have them available for taxes, Cash Register also allows you to print the receipts.

A thing that’s a bit of a bother with Cash Register is the fact that you can’t operate it using the keys on your keyboard. This doesn’t make it less practical but it does make typing using your mouse a bit more time consuming.

All-in-all, Cash Register is a well built application that can certainly help you keep track of cash flow and purchases from your computer.
