Navigating through files might seem like an easy task, but only if you keep your computer well-organized. Chances are you spend way too much time locating files of interest, even with the help of the Windows Search function. Luckily, there are various other tools you can use to index particular locations to find them easily, and iFind is a suitable example here.

First of all, it’s recommended to check whether or not your computer is fitted with .NET Framework to ensure the proper functionality of the application. Setup is over before you realize, letting you check out the set of features in the nick of time. What’s more, the intuitive design is sure to quickly get you up and running.

As far as the visual design is concerned, the interface is wrapped around a custom-made layout, with cool textures used in the design, and large, intuitive panes to define search criteria and also show results. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t manage to scan and show results as you type, and you need to hit the trigger button to initiate the process.

You might end up scratching your head for a while at first, because there might not be any results to display, regardless of the search criteria. This is only because the application relies on indexed locations you need to specify. This is done from the options panel, where you can set up filters by location and file extension.

It’s a good idea to create an index of multiple locations to widen the search area, or simply leave a single folder to narrow down results, mostly if you’re sure the target item is somewhere in the tree of the source directory. Detected items are shown on different rows to easily locate and open them.

On an ending note, iFind might not come with any advanced options for advanced search configuration, but it is possible to easily set up filters based on locations and file extensions to narrow down results to items or folders of interest.
