Font Draw

While in some occasions it might seem like a waste of time to search for a font, when working on visuals or any graphics projects, using the right font is a must. Advanced editors come with their own generous list of fonts to choose from. However, in case you are not satisfied with the available options, then you can use a font editor and creator such as Font Draw to alter existing fonts or even create a new one from scratch.

You start by opening an existing font or creating a new one. Font Draw comes with support for both OpenType/TT and OpenType/CFF and allows you to select the initial set of characters to use, which an either be empty or not. The editor allows simple sets of characters with one letter or composite glyphs, as well as sets containing the entire Latin alphabet, uppercase only or lowercase included. Initial metrics and contours of the letters can be imported from Windows’ fonts.

Once your project is created, all the letters are displayed within the main window of the application, allowing you to start working on your new font. Double clicking on any letter will bring it to focus, allowing you to freely edit its shape, curves and properties. Font Draw enables you to practically draw each of the letters in the alphabet and add your own personal touch to make it your own.

Not only that you can tamper with the properties of the font, but you can play around with the properties of the glyphs. As such, you can alter the font’s metrics and style and change glyph properties for each single letter. Font Draw displays the character code, contour properties and glyph metrics.  There are several tools at your disposal in Font Draw. The toolbox includes a pen, a pencil, a marker and an eraser, a knife and several geometrical shapes that you can freely use to change the appearance of glyphs.
