WinFontInstaller

In the eventuality that you aren’t a big fan of the standard way of installing fonts on your Windows, then perhaps a command line tool might be of interest. As the name implies, WinFontInstaller is a tiny console utility that enables you to manage and install fonts via commands. As far as the options go, the application allows you to copy and move files to the font folder, open the folder source of fonts and, obviously, install fonts.

If you decide to simply run the application without any switchers, then it will automatically remove stale font entries in the registry. At the same time, the app can repair missing font registrations, although this may not always be the case, especially if the tool can’t determine and interpret the hidden registrations.

To make the most of the tool, it is recommended you run it via the Administrator account, as it prevents most errors related to permissions and installs the fonts directly in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. If you don’t have admin privileges, then you can still use it, the only difference being that the fonts will be installed for the current user only.

According to the developer, the tool is designed as an alternative of fontinst.exe, which is quite outdated, and similarly to the latter, it is fully silent and doesn’t display any message.
