Going through the setup process doesn’t take a lot of time, and you quickly get the chance to check out the application’s set of features. Be sure to install .NET Framework for the program to properly work. It’s a good idea to make sure your Internet connection is active, because the application doesn’t come with any built-in strips, and downloads your requests on the spot.

The design is slim, and intuitive. Most of the space is serves as the preview area, with a set of controls in the upper toolbar, and different strip related details in the status bar. On the bright side of things, everything displayed gets downloaded in the application source folder, just in case you want to view them offline, or share with others.

Although the application does manage to automatically connect to a preset server to download comic strips, it doesn’t come with a search field in case you’re interested in a particular item. However, it comes with a list of well over a hundred different comic strips, including popular ones, so there’s a high chance you find items of interest.

Pay close attention to the calendar, because it’s not set to start at the current day by default. You do have the possibility to easily select the year, month, and day to view strips. What’s more, it comes with a built-in slideshow component for a comfortable view over time.

All things considered, we can state that ComiX is a reliable application which can keep you updated with the most recent strips of interest. Even though you can’t exactly search for particular comic strips, the default list includes an impressive amount of items to choose from.
