EasyError

Windows communicates with you in various ways, being equipped with different types of dialogs, just so you better understand what’s going on. However, dialogs can be created for your own interests, especially to integrate into custom projects, as well as for your own amusement, which is the case with EasyError.

On the one hand, the application doesn’t come inside a setup package, so you can see what it’s all about from the moment download is done. Needless to say that this allows you to store it on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on other computers. The health status is not affected, because registry entries are not modified in the process.

All the application has to offer is found in an intuitive window, fitted with all necessary controls and settings, some of which only become available if the proper dependencies are selected. You have a couple of modes at your disposal, such as a regular message, or a false shutdown dialog.

Several fields can be filled with a custom caption and message to appear in the dialog box. They’re not mandatory, but help deliver the intended message a little better. The message box can be info, question, exclamation or error. You can trigger a false shutdown message which is activated after a custom time value.

Although this is intended as a fun application you can use to pull a prank on someone, it’s not exactly well-built. This is because there’s no way to trigger a custom message without running the application and setting up values first. There’s not even a built-in timer to schedule a particular dialog.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that EasyError comes with good intentions, but doesn’t really wrap its set of features in a practical environment. Even though it is intended for a little fun time, you quickly need to set up values before the individual has a chance to look at what you’re doing.
