Framsticks is a powerful application that allows you to simulate three-dimensional life forms. Both mechanical structures ("bodies") and control systems ("brains") of creatures are modeled.
It is possible to design various kinds of experiments, including simple optimization (by evolutionary algorithms), coevolution, open-ended and spontaneous evolution, distinct gene pools and populations, diverse genotype-phenotype mappings, and modeling of species and ecosystems.

- You cannot to use standard OpenGL graphics style for the real-time 3D-rendered display.

- General: support for multi-threading; a few experiments have multi-threaded versions
- General: 32-bit Mersenne twister used as a random number generator
- General: files with genotypes, settings, scripts, 3D objects, etc., are now in the data subdirectory
- General: genetic f0 support for Part shapes other than a ball: cuboids, cylinders and ellipsoids; examples added to theater in the genotype viewer (-g) mode
