Galaxies 3D

Learning facts about our Universe and other astronomical elements doesn’t necessarily need to be turned into a thorough scientific documentation process. Quite the contrary, learning through exploring or even using images can be much more fun. This is the principle behind Galaxies 3D, which will offer users a set of satellite images of some of the most common galaxies, each accompanied by interesting information.

Once installed, the app will automatically initialize into maximized mode, which actually is its only mode. This could put-off some users as you cannot resize the interface and exiting it through the context menu is the only option.

A database of 23 galaxy photographs is available and users can either scroll through each one manually or select for the app to loop the images, kind of like in a slide show. Each image also features some attached information, which can be toggled using the context menu.

The information which can be displayed (on demand) onto each image is the galaxy name, its type, distance from Earth and the corresponding constellation. When seen from afar you could understand why this might not be the most abundant amount of information available.

However, it doesn’t have to have a huge amount of data on each galaxy. For novices or those who are just learning about galaxies, this could very-well be more than enough. More advanced users and those who need extra details, can always perform a more thorough documentation using various means.

Learning through exploring images of galaxies is at the core of this software. Featuring a small library of photographs coupled with details about each galaxy, it could be a great starter software for those who wish to explore the Universe.
