Learning a new language is no easy task, especially if we are talking about one from a different language family. One of the most difficult languages for native English speakers is German but, with perseverance, a lot of practice and the proper tools to assimilate the vocabulary, learning to communicate in both spoken words and writing is possible.

Here comes German Flashcards to help you out in this ambitious endeavor, providing assistance in learning and finding new words in German as used in the common language and regular conversations.

German Flashcards is a simple application with an even simpler user interface. Yes, there are a few settings you can tamper with but all the options are pretty straightforward and easy to understand.

There are two available working modes in German Flashcards. The so-called Training Mode enables you to learn new words and see their translation in English with the click of a button. Unfortunately, there are no other language exercises that would help, such as filling in blanks or at least reading a sentence that includes a specific word, so that you can see how it is used.

The other mode is designed to test your knowledge and progress in learning the German vocabulary. Each test is made up of ten words (you can add more in the application’s settings) and, for each of them, you must choose whether you know its translation or not using one of the two emoticons.

The test results are shown in the designated tab, which also reveals the passing grade. By default, this is 80% of all the answers correct, but you can change this percentage in the settings as well.

There is no doubt that German Flashcards is a handy application for those who want to improve their German vocabulary. However, it only allows you to learn individual words and test to see if you know their translation without providing additional exercises.
