JustType

Touch typing is a writing technique that, over the years, or with intensive training, lets you type without looking at the keyboard or in advanced cases, not even feeling around the keys.

JustType is a training program that lets you see in real-time what keys are pressed on your keyboard.

As finger placement is an important element of touch typing, the app should present you with four patterns when you launch it for the first time. The patters have different key colors and placements (of the colors), and they are supposed to help you develop the typing style that works best for you.

Next, you'll have to choose the keyboard model, so the app can reproduce it. The keyboard model influences the placement of some symbols keys, as well as the Enter key's design. Be careful with choosing the model so you avoid the confusion created by inconsistencies between the pressed keys and the highlighted ones.

Going further, the next item to set is the keyboard background. The background does not require you to check anything from the keyboard; it just lets you choose the shape of the on-screen model.

Also, the Options tab that comes next provides some more functionality characteristics. You can set the keyboard's opacity, set a highlight delay or make the app run when Windows starts.

After all the above settings are done, the on-screen keyboard pops up. The layout can also be resized, so the risk of the model taking to much space, or being too small, is eliminated.

Regarding the highlighting action, each time you hit a key on your physical keyboard you will also notice it on the screen, as it flashes red.

JustType is a simple and effective way of exercising your touch typing. During the first launch, be careful with the settings, as they might easily pass tips, and you would have to redo them.
