The program setup is swift and uncomplicated. However, for the app to work without errors, it has to be run in administrator mode.

The offered layout is basic and user-friendly, structured into a category tree system, along with the recipe information and the search tabs. It's mandatory to have .NET Framework installed on the drive, and optional to have Internet Explorer as well.

There is no option to create a personal account with a protection method to keep the data away from being modified. However, the practicability the Recipe Management System offers makes it easier for those inexperienced in handling recipes managers to work with it as well.

Before you start adding your recipes, it's best to create the tree structure by making as many groups as you need. For each entry, you can fill in the name, author, category and the number of servings, along with the preparation and cooking times.

A unique item ID is generated for each record. You have the option to enter the ingredients one under the other, your personal thoughts, preparation instructions and nutritional facts.

Recipe Management System also lets you load a representative image of the food from the computer or URL, and add a few tags to ease your search. It's possible to import recipes from two distinct websites RecipeZaar.com and KraftFoods.com.

Last but not least, you can find records by typing in several tags or parts of the word. Sadly, the database can't be exported to a TXT or RTF file nor backed up.

To sum it up, Recipe Management System is a basic application that helps you add and keep track of all your favorite recipes, be them your own or taken from a cooking show.
