RunMath

All Windows editions include a calculator that is more than enough for you to calculate various things from time to time. However, if you need to do math operations regularly, you may find it rather cumbersome. RunMath is a keyboard-first calculator app that can cater to those of you who perform calculations frequently.

The app includes a rather minimalistic interface that consists of a single line-box where you can input the desired operation. Unfortunately, there is not much you can change about it other than the background color.

The bar-like interface is positioned in the middle of the screen and seems to always be on top. It would have been nice if you would be able to move it around your desktop or at least adjust the transparency. For the time being, if it’s becoming a distraction, you can use the Alt + M hotkey to toggle its visibility on and off.

As far as its capabilities go, the program enables you to perform the basic math operations, including, but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, factorial, modulo and exponentiation. The tool can do unit conversion, such as lbs to kg, for instance, and supports complex numbers.

When doing calculations, the app erases everything and focused on the task at hand. If you want to save a certain result or formula so that you can review it later, then don’t forget to use the ‘=’ hey. Navigating through the history is done using the up and down arrow keys.

RunMath is a lightweight utility that could come in handy for anyone who needs to perform unit conversions or math operations regularly. While it can be argued that the embedded calculator in Windows has the same capabilities, the advantage of the tool is that you can easily type or paste everything using just the keyboard.
