Sun Spotter

Regardless of your hobbies or professional needs, the Internet offers a whole array of applications and programs that you could use in order to complete your projects.

One of them is Sun Spotter. It's a neat and small application that allows you to grab images of the Sun. They're taken by the SOHO satellite and you can save them to your computer easily.

The application sports a really small and easy-to-use graphical interface with multiple tools and features at hand.

It doesn't come with any customization options, but you wouldn't really need them since the layout is quite intuitive and all tools are displayed at hand. However, it could have used some tips and instructions for getting accustomed to the application faster.

You can use multiple tools for getting images, the Continuum section loads the Michelson Doppler Imager view of the Sun, you simply need to select the section in order to view the image.

You can also access the US Naval Observatory website to get more information. It allows you to view images taken at a specific date and time, simply adjust the parameters in order to get the image that you want.

You can also have the application load the Michelson Doppler Imager view of the Sun, together with the tool for viewing sunspots. The latter displays images that are similar to what you would see through a telescope equipped with a solar filter.

It also comes with the option to view an image of the Sun taken with the Extreme Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope at a wavelength of 171, 195, 284 or 304 angstroms. You can also view the Sun's corona taken using the Large Angle Spectrometric Coronagraph.

All images displayed inside the application can be saved on your computer. Sun Spotter is a very useful application for grabbing images of the Sun and saving them on your PC.
