Anything can be cataloged on a computer, especially in the form of text. This is especially helpful when having to find info of interest in the nick of time. Cooking makes no exceptions, and with the help of specialized applications like tastebooky, you can organize all your recipes into categories, add pictures, and more.

With the application installed, you can start thinking what recipes to write down. Accommodation only keeps you busy for a little while, and there’s even a sample item with descriptions in all fields, so you get an idea of how the creation process works. Unfortunately, you can’t load info from any kind of source, but only paste text in dedicated field from the clipboard.

As such, the creation process only differs in time depending on the complexity of a recipe, and how long it takes you to write down all details. Although named a gallery, the picture field can only hold one image item. Other info include category, number of servings, source, kcal, ingredients, notes, and directions.

You may notice that the category field is only fitted with one entry by default, while the field itself isn’t editable. This is because categories are managed altogether in a dedicated sections. Only a name is required, but the category manager allows you to organize recipes, and create new ones on the spot.

Browsing through created items is easily done, and there’s also a search field to help out. Unfortunately, there’s no link to any online recipe source, so research needs to be done through other means. What’s more, there are no export options, and so you’re not able to share your recipes with friends, or family, unless they’re right next to you to actually view the recipe in the app on your PC.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that tastebooky is a lightweight application, which provides a fast, efficient way of storing all custom, or favorite recipes. Unfortunately, it only comes with the means to save, and create, with no online references or recipe sources, and no built-in export, or sharing options.
