BBC Radio Companion

It's quite often that we need some sort of background noise in our office, or at home, to entertain us and create atmosphere. We're also quite keen on hearing the news while working on other projects. For both of these situations and many other similar ones, BBC Radio Companion sounds like the ideal type of application we'd have to deal with.

One should keep in mind when dealing with this program that it only manages to catch the various BBC broadcasts dealing with a large set of subjects and types of music. If it's not BBC, then it's not included in the app. There is an extra cool feature that allows one to track any previously played song on these radio broadcasts.

I must say I was surprised about how well the broadcasts work, and even more so by the song-identifying perk included with the product. It is true there are other apps doing the same, some even better, but with this one right here you get a simple package and friendly interface.

One particular aspect I really loved about this program was the use of a dark-toned background. Personally, I felt it was less dangerous to my eyes when working at night and using this program. The window can be resized to fit a smaller area if you'd like that and generally, the modern interface pretty much indicates where the more important elements of the program are situated.

BBC Radio Companion is an interesting application for individuals who still favor radio broadcasts, even if in an online format, over other types of media-sharing systems. It works well, includes an intuitive interface, and pretty much satisfies your need for BBC material that might show up. You get to feel closes to its British-associated culture wherever you find yourself.
