Extend the print screen button functionality with more capture options, output file format selection, thanks to this lightweight application #Screen capture #Make screenshot #Make snapshot #Screen #Capture #Screenshot
Before a virtual product, video game or application becomes available to the public, it undergoes testing, which automatically implies taking a few screenshots for closer inspection of possible issues. Specialized tools like Esun Screen Capture are more than welcome, providing an extension to the default functionality of the Windows feature.
On the visual side of things, the application reserves most of the space to generate a preview of the captured area, with quick links to some function in the upper toolbar. However, as intuitive as it may seem, you may want to explore the settings menu and the rest of the available functions to really get to know the application.
For instance, there’s no support for hotkeys, so using the keyboard button has no use here, especially since you can’t paste pictures inside the application. This also means that you always rely on the main window to access capture options, because it doesn’t minimize to be controlled through hotkey.
On the other hand, Esun Screen Capture does offer an alternative to the full screen capture method. With it, you are able to select a specific region of the screen, which is then exported to file, which can either be JPG, or BMP. Sadly, there’s no possibility to have screenshots automatically saved to file, which has an impact on both time, and practicality.
Last but not least, result is always a raw representation of the whole screen or a custom area, and this is because there aren’t any editing options you can use. This includes the lack of basic navigation and zoom options, from drawing or simple text stamp options.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Esun Screen Capture comes with good intentions, but is a little rough around the edges overall. File support is decent, with options to choose from a couple of formats, screens which are taken either of the entire screen or custom area. In spite of all this, lack of hotkey support, automatic save, let alone editing options, practicality quickly becomes questionable.
