On the one hand, the application doesn’t need to be installed in order to function. After download is done, you can go ahead and run it to see what it’s all about. Registry entries are not changed in the process, so the health status of the target PC remains intact.

The main window holds a couple of components you work with. Both come in their own windows, which can be moved across the workspace. Although the properties panel can’t be resized, this is possible for the preview area for better analysis.

You can interact with the preview area in order to pan and rotate the camera, zoom in and out. You can have the camera automatically rotate for a multi angle view. To start a simulation though, you first need to create a new fireworks device, or use one of the six available presets.

Editing only consists of adjusting several value fields and sliders. Although not abundant in the number of controls, it can be a little tricky to perfectly tweak effects, especially because the project needs to be compiled before the visualizer starts, and this needs to be done after every change.

Effect groups target projection angles, start characteristics, trail of effects, star life, distribution, and initiation time. You can change the color of effects, as well as general behavior options such as blinking or fading.

All things considered, we can state that Fireworks Simulator Engine might not have any practical use since exporting can only be done as a picture, but it’s sure a fun way to tell how fireworks react under different configurations.
