Live Log Viewer

Windows and all kinds of applications rely on log files to store information that could be useful for keeping track of changes or troubleshooting issues. Reading these logs can be difficult, however, especially if you are only interested in new additions.

Live Log Viewer is a relatively simple utility that can prove helpful in this situation, as it makes it easier to view changes to log files. It doesn’t offer any advanced features, such as filtering and color coding, but it is very simple to set up.

While the program isn’t entirely portable, users should be happy to learn that it does not require you to go through an installation process. Just unpack the archive and launch the application right away.

You will be prompted to open a log file upon launch, but nothing will be displayed in the main window until new content is added to the file. This application is only suitable for keeping track of new messages, as existing ones will not be displayed.

Live Log Viewer enables you to monitor multiple files at once, as each one will be displayed in a different tab. What’s more, you can freeze updates for any of them if you no longer wish to view changes.

Reading the log files will still be quite difficult, however, as the application does not color code messages based on their type, and you also cannot filter them if you are looking for a specific entry.

On the whole, Live Log Viewer isn’t the most impressive application of its kind, but it can be useful if you only need to monitor changes and aren’t bothered by the lack of filtering options. It is very easy to deploy, and it features a minimalistic, if somewhat outdated UI.
