In the eventuality that you own an Oculus Quest 2, then you already know that you cannot use your device unless you connect it to a Facebook account. The worst part of it is that if you deactivate Facebook or delete your account, you will simply lose everything you purchased and the achievements.

Oculess is a small script designed to help you get around over this inconvenience. More precisely, the tool allows you to temporarily or partially remove Facebook account requirements and the associated telemetry from Oculus Quest devices.

Considering this is a script, it goes without saying that it does not have an interface, but rather you need to sideload onto the Oculus Quest 2. Sideloading in this case entails that you need to create a developer account first so that you are able to connect the device to your PC or Android smartphone and afterwards, transfer the utility onto the main storage. The result is that you will be logged off Facebook, but will still be able to use the VR headsets.

Since this sounds rather tedious, the developer provides video and step-by-step quides on how to logout Facebook and disable telemetry as well as updates, so do not hesitate to check them out.

A side benefit of the tool is that by removing the Facebook account requirement, you are also disabling telemetry and firmware updates, which could break the tool. Then again, take note that Oculess does come with risks and many things may not function well once you run the script. In fact, Oculus Store and some of your games may not work. If this is the case or you simply change your mind, then you will need to do a factory reset of your Oculus Quest 2 device.
