WCD Drink Alarm

Remembering or even knowing how much water you need to drink over a day can be difficult, especially when you are exercising as well. WCD Drink Alarm is an application that calculates and tracks the amount of water a person needs to drink, depending on their weight and planned exercising.

When users first open WCD Drink Alarm, the application will ask them several questions to tailor the program to their needs. First, it requires their weight in either metric or imperial, providing both weight systems. Then users can select how many hours they want the software to track them for, i.e. 8 hours to monitor them during the work day.

Then the application asks if they are planning to exercise within that time and for how long for, with options ranging from 30, 60, 90 to 120 minutes. WCD Drink Alarm is not very specific here and could be customized to a greater degree, but it provide basic ranges. Once that is done, WCD Drink Alarm is ready to begin.

Once WCD Drink Alarm is properly set up, it opens up a monitor window that displays two timers: one timer is for the selected amount of time users chose and the next timer is for when to next drink a glass of water. It displays the target amount of water consumed, as well as how many have been consumed.

Every time users are reminded to drink, the program plays a non-customizable alarm, which could be improved. A button can be pressed every time users have a drink, which changes the counters. Information can also be displayed in a graph form for those who prefer more details, it shows the time expired as well as the amount of water drunk, so the projected amount can compared with the actual water intake.
