YAKD - Yet Another Key Displayer

When streaming a game or recording gameplay, it can be difficult for viewers to figure out what you’re doing, especially if you’re playing something fast-paced. To make their lives easier, you can use an application that displays key presses on your screen in real-time.

YAKD - Yet Another Key Displayer does exactly what the name suggests – it uses an overlay to show which keys are being pressed at any given time. It can be very helpful for streaming or recording gameplay videos.

Essentially, this program generates a small window that will be shown on top of all other applications and can be moved to any position on your screen.

When pressing one or more keys, they will be displayed in the window, showing viewers exactly what you are doing. Key combinations are also displayed, and there is no delay.

There are plenty of things you can change about the window, including its background color, opacity, position and dimensions. However, there seems to be an issue with the opacity setting, so you can only use either the default configuration or disable transparency altogether.

You can select your preferred font, as well as set its size and color. O test things out, you can have the program display some demo keys while you’re configuring everything.

Aside from the fact that the opacity setting needs to be fixed, users should also have the option of minimizing the configuration window to the system tray, and it would be nice if the overlay window were not displayed in the taskbar so as to reduce clutter.

Overall, YAKD is a simple but useful program that can come in handy for streamers and other content creators. It is very easy to configure, but it still needs to be improved in some respects.
