Games greatly evolved throughout the years, and we’re now at the doorstep of virtual reality. However, this doesn’t make other types of entertainment modes obsolete, and you might try to have fun without using the computer entirely. For instance, ZC Dice can help in case your game requires a pair of dice, but you misplaced it.
The application first takes you through a setup process to ensure functionality, but it doesn’t really bound itself to your operating system, so it’s possible to also deploy it on a thumb drive. This makes it possible to carry around as a personal pair of virtual dice. However, the computer you use it on needs to be fitted with .NET Framework for everything to work out fine.
All it has to offer can be found in a pretty compact main window. It doesn’t pose any accommodation problems, with a couple of fields for number of dice to throw, as well as the sides of a dice. Results are shown in the same window at the press of a button, with every press generating new random values, just like a dice should.
On the bright side of things, the application allows a great deal of flexibility, mostly because of the input freedom for both value fields. This means you can use the application to generate multiple random numbers, by choosing from a pool which you also get to specify.
Results come in the form of extracted numbers, as well as their sum. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t come with any export options, which would have been pretty neat, considering it can be used as a plain random number generated. More than that, values can’t be copied from the display area, neither are they automatically sent to clipboard.
All things considered, we can state that ZC Dice manages to live up to expectations, being a highly-customizable virtual dice. The lack of a limitation in value input fields is a neat advantage, because it can also be used as a general random number generator for multiple values in a custom pool.
