In this day and age, hand-written messages are a thing of the past, as almost everyone has access to a piece of technology that lets them send electronic messages. However, with time, people started to employ word abbreviations in all their messages, which created the reflex of continuously using them. Even if today we can read text full of abbreviations, there are areas where the format style of writing has to be applied. If you think you require support in going back to the normal style, aText is a smart tool that lets you generate full words based on abbreviations.

Before starting to use the app, you have to determine which shortcuts go with what words. First of all, you have to create a group. The group works as a category, and multiple can be created. Each group works holds snippets, which are the connection between the abbreviation and the full word.

aText comes with several default snippets, which can be edited to serve your needs. Also, to create more of those, look for the New Snippet Option. When creating a new snippet, the app asks you for an abbreviation and the plain text, which serves as the full word, or any other form you like. For example, you can always quickly type a website address if you set its shortcut as "www."

aText can be synced with multiple apps and platforms out there. You can insert text and even images in apps like Apple pages, multiple mail platforms, Google Gmail. etc. Also, you can sync it via cloud services like iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and more.

Virtual Machines (VMWare Fusion, Virtual Box, Parallels, etc.) are also under the tool's capabilities, however, it works in single-window mode only.

aText is a smart spotter for when it comes to composing text. The app is somehow intuitive, but it has a lot of combo menus that may take some time to get used to, but after that passes, you won't have any issues regarding its operation.
