WindowWalker

Given the perpetually impressive hardware upgrades and software updates that computers and operating systems receive respectively, users’ multitasking ability has been augmented tenfold, letting them get more tasks done in the background while working on their main project in the foreground. As such, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to navigate among the wide range of programs stacked along the taskbar, especially when a part of them have multiple instances running and the cursor preview function does not display the entirety of the title bar when hovering on its icon.

While Windows’ built-in Alt-Tab shortcut does suit many of its users, those who find it harder to browse through the grid-style layout can try out a nifty and lightweight plugin for the elegantly designed Flow Launcher, known as WindowWalker. Thanks to its Microsoft-powered PowerToys counterpart’s openly available source code, the Flow Launcher team managed to port the similarly named feature, allowing users to bring up the input box and start typing the first letters of the opened window they wish to find and bring to the foreground, thus speeding up the process.

Installation is seamless, requiring users to simply start up the launcher and execute the pm install Window Walker command to get started, which also provides the option to close the selected process instantly by combining the Control and Enter hotkeys without manually navigating to the close button using the cursor.
