Portable Facebook Blocker

This is the portable counterpart of Facebook Blocker, a simple-to-use piece of software with a clearly defined purpose: it allows users to instantly block access to the Facebook social networking platform. It particularly comes in handy when sharing the PC with other users who shouldn't be tinkering with personal accounts.

Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run.

There is also the possibility to save Facebook Blocker to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.

What's worth taking into account is that the app does not change Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk, as it typically happens with installers.

The GUI is based on a single frame that shows the current Facebook blocking status and lets users execute this command with the click of a button. On completion, it pops up a message and notifies users that they may have to restart the web browsers to apply the new modifications (this was not necessary in our evaluation).

From this point on, any attempt to navigate to the Facebook website will result in a failure the load the webpage, as if the server or network has connectivity issues (it also applies to incognito instances). This change is applied even after exiting Facebook Blocker. It is necessary to unblock it by clicking the same button from the main frame to lift restrictions.

The tool worked smoothly thorughout our evaluation, without hanging, crashing or popping up error messages. As far as we have noticed, it works for Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer at least. CPU and RAM consumption was low. Since this edition of Facebook Blocker is portable, the app is completely stealthy.
