X-Ekiga

With the Internet far from being at its peak, socializing and messaging applications greatly flourish. Before you get to meet the interface, you’re prompted by an account wizard, which is pretty nifty, gradually taking you to create an account in seconds, and configure recording devices as well. With everything in order, you’re taken to a somewhat typical instant messaging program interface, with a large list for contacts, and upper toolbar for the rest of the options and functions.

There are a few default services such as call back test, conference room, and echo test, with which you can practice using it and see if all goes well. Profile customization is nonexistent, but you can still choose from several preset status messages, or add your own text to display.

The default mouse click action is to call a specific contact, but instant text messaging can also be initiated, either with one or more individuals, just as well as for video calls. History is recorded and can easily be accessed at the press of a button, and this comes in handy, given the portability perks.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that X-Ekiga is a practical application, and pretty useful given that it’s portable, and is sure to help you connect with close buddies, relatives, or performing video conferences with your business partners. It’s easy to set up an account, and its just as easy to use it in general.
