Portable FLAC 2 MP3

This is the portable edition of FLAC 2 MP3, a software application that uses FLAC and LAME transcoders for converting audio tracks from FLAC to MP3.

Since the app does not come with an installation package, you can store FLAC 2 MP3 on an external device (like a USB flash drive), save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.

You can carry FLAC 2 MP3 with you when you're on the move. Besides, there are no updates made to the Windows Registry and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal.

The tool is wrapped in a clean and uncomplicated interface. Importing items into the file list can be done with the help of either the file browser or 'drag and drop' method. Processing multiple entries at the same time is possible.

You can specify the LAME and FLAC folder paths, along with the output destination and temporary location. FLAC 2 MP3 can be set to create a structure from the tags or source, include the year on the album folder, as well as to show the FLAC and LAME prompt.

You can minimize FLAC 2 MP3 to the system tray area, restore settings to their default values, view a program change log, and hide the app's window during the conversion procedure.

The program runs on a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time, quickly finishes a task and delivers audio tracks with a good sound quality. We have not come across any issues during our tests. However, there is no help file available and you cannot specify the thread priority, or configure some audio settings (e.g. volume level, channel mode). First-time users may need some time to get accustomed to FLAC 2 MP3's features.
