Portable Media Tagger

This is the portable version of Media Tagger - a tool that allows you to edit the tags of audio files.

But it comes with other interesting features as well. It supports several formats, including MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC and AAC.

Since installation is not required, you can basically save Portable Media Tagger to a USB flash drive or any other external device, store it on any computer, and directly run its executable file.

In this way, you can always have Portable Media Tagger with you when you're on the go. Plus, no leftover items can be found in the Windows Registry or on the hard drive after program removal.

The interface of the app is based on a standard window where you can use the Explorer-based layout to locate and select audio tracks for processing.

The file queue displays the name, metadata, duration, size, date and location for each item. You can edit ID3 and APE details, edit lyrics, add cover art, and rename files. The layout is customizable when it comes to the lines, columns and case.

File details may be exported to a Winamp playlist, CSV or HTML file. Plus, you can synchronize metadata between two songs, fix track numbers, and swap items, just to name a few. From the 'Options' screen, you can make Portable Media Tagger minimize to the system tray area, integrate it into the shell, use flat buttons, save the last directory, send items to the Recycle Bin, among others. These settings may be restored to their default values.

Portable Media Tagger supports multiple languages for the interface, has a good response time and requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory. We have not come across any problems during our evaluation; Portable Media Tagger did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. However, its interface needs some improvements, since it's not attractive or very intuitive. No recent updates have been made to Portable Media Tagger.
