X-Lmms

Made as a portable edition of LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio), X-Lmms is a feature-rich audio processing application for experienced users that comes loaded with an advanced editor, in addition to mixing and synthesizing tools.

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files in any part of the disk and just click the executable to launch X-Lmms. Another possibility is to save it to a USB flash drive to immediately run it on any PC with minimum effort. It doesn't change the Windows registry configuration.

Made from a full-screen window with an attractive and complex structure, the interface lets you work on projects that can be saved to file and later resumed, as well as exported to .wav or .ogg format.

The song editor enables you to record samplea from the audio device and play them, add bassline, sample and automation tracks, toggle between edit and draw mode, activate auto-scrolling and loop points, zoom in and out, clone and mute tracks, as well as tinker with presets, effects, plugins, and the controller rack.

For example, you can adjust the volume level, apply the reverb effect, tweak the pitch, boost the bass, analyze the spectrum, or insert echo and distortion effects. Undoing and redoing your actions is possible.

As far as program settings are concerned, you can set the buffer size, hide tooltips, display volume as dBV, compress project files, compact track buttons, modify the default working directory of the application, VST plugin, artwork and other apps, fiddle with performance settings regarding channel activity indicators and smooth scrolling in the song editor, switch to another audio and Midi interface, and so on.

Everything worked smoothly in our tests, thanks to the fact that X-Lmms didn't hang, crash or display error messages. It had a good response time to user commands and minimal impact on the workstation's performance, using low CPU and RAM.

X-Lmms comes loaded with rich features and configuration settings to help you edit, mix and enhance audio tracks, and it's mainly geared toward seasoned users.
