X-MP3Gain

X-MP3Gain is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help you normalize the volume of MP3 files. The utility is able to analyze and adjust the audio streams so that they have the same volume.

The analysis mode consists in detecting how loud the sound is perceived by the human hear. The changes applied to the MP3 files are lossless. The program does not employ decoding and re-encoding so no adjustments are made to the sound quality.

It is designed as the portable version of MP3Gain, which makes it an ideal candidate for being stored on USB flash drives or other portable devices.

You can create a list with the files that you want to process. You may import tracks from M3U playlists or add the content of an entire folder.

X-MP3Gain makes use of the ReplayGain algorithm in order to analyze the desired gain (volume adjustment) either per track or album. At the end of the process it reveals information about each track, such as volume and album volume.

You can save the current analysis to a file on your computer so you can import it in the future and delete files from the list or clear the entire workspace with a single click.

You are allowed to alter the gain by album or track based on a user-defined value. You are given the freedom to set a constant gain which can be applied to a single channel (this function works only if the MP3 is encoded stereo or dual-channel, not joint-stereo or mono). The best part about it is that you can undo the gain changes.

X-MP3Gain helps you keep the main panel on top of other files, process only the selected items, preserve file date/time, disable audio clipping when applying the track gain adjustments, remove or ignore tags, keep logs, play a sound notification at the end of a task, and set thread priorities.
