Portable SharpControl

As such, Portable SharpControl gives you the possibility to adjust sharpness level for your pictures.

There’s one advantage in particular you notice even before you get to use the application. As the name suggests, you can directly deploy the program on an USB flash drive to use on other PCs as well. It’s perfectly safe, since there’s no system registry dependency.

All features are stored in a classic window design. Most of the space is used to provide an interactive preview of the picture you load. Moreover, a side panel provides original preview of a certain area, as well as the preview of applied effects, so you can comfortably make adjustments without the risk of destroying the original image.

The main purpose is sharpness control, and this is done from a small set of options, also stored in a side panel. As such, you get to adjust radius, intensity, control, edge, and iterations. Unfortunately, there are only controls to increase and decrease corresponding values, with no possibility to manually write down the value.

Applying a configuration shows it in a list, giving you the possibility to further edit. There’s no button to undo changes, but removing modifications from the list acts in the same manner. Saving is done separately, leaving the original file intact. Supported formats only let you use JPG and TIFF files.

Moreover, the application is capable of grabbing images stored in the clipboard, and even send them there, just in case they need to be quickly used in other projects or programs. Batch processing is also possible, but you need to create a backup of original files, because they are replaced when saving.

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Portable SharpControl is a straightforward image editing application that specializes itself in sharpness level. Although a bit ambiguous overall, it can easily be used by beginners and experienced individuals alike. The possibility to work on the go is an advantage, making this program worth your time in the end.
