Movie Renamer Portable

Designed as the portable edition of Movie Renamer, this is a Java-based software utility designed to help you rename multiple files from a collection of movies. It doesn't comprise complex options or configuration settings, so it should be easy to figure out by all types of users.

As long as you have Java installed on your PC, you don't have to set up Movie Renamer. You can just drop the JAR file anywhere on the disk and just click it to launch the tool. Alternatively, you can copy it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit to run it on any PC with minimal effort.

Unlike most installers, this program does not add new entries to the Windows registry, so it doesn't increase the risk of OS stability issues.

The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a normal window with a plain and simple structure, where you can open movie files with ASF, AVI, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPG, RM, WMV and several other formats.

The software application automatically looks up the movie in an online database, shows multiple results in a list, and lets you pick one. It is possible to edit details concerning the movie title, year, runtime, genre, director, actors, rating, thumbnail, and fan art, among others.

As far as app customization goes, you can hide the movie information panel, ask Movie Renamer to automatically check for software updates at startup, change the UI language, modify the file renaming pattern (e.g. remove duplicate white spaces, create a new directory), select the movie thumbnail extension and size, and so on.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that Movie Renamer did not freeze, crash or display error dialogs. Its impact on PC performance is minimal overall, since it uses low CPU and RAM.

Although it's not much to look at, Movie Renamer comes loaded with some pretty handy features dedicated to reorganizing a movie collection by renaming titles and editing other kinds of information.
