X-VideoLAN

X-VideoLAN was designed as a portable replica of VLC Media Player that doesn’t need installation and can be carried on a removable drive and launched on any machine. It does not write to the registry and the impact on system resources is minimal.

It can also be used as a video converter and a media streamer, as well as to improve acoustics and edit motion images by applying several effects. Other highlights include network sync, resamplers, demuxers and support for multicast, IPv4 and IPv6 in case you’ll use it as a streaming server.

In conclusion, if you opt for X-VideoLAN, you’ll get a non-intrusive and easier to implement media player. The package is updated each time a new release of VLC is issued, but the downside is that it is made available after several days and at times, even weeks.
