In My Diary Portable

Despite its name, In My Diary Portable is not solely a virtual journal writer. In fact, it deploys a personal information manager that encompasses a calendar with an event manager, a desktop alarm, a note taking application, a password manager and generator, and a contacts manager. In other words, it is more like a full-featured organizer, a toolbox that gathers everything you need to keep track of your daily activity.

The built-in calendar offers an alternative to the Windows calendar, allowing you to easily navigate through the months of the year and store anniversaries and other significant dates. It also displays a list of special days throughout the year, allowing you to stay informed about holidays and celebrations.

You can add alarms to the calendar entries, with start and end times, and prior email notifications. Moreover, In My Diary Portable can schedule repeating alarms and notify you either via a text bubble, or a computer task.

The diary enables you to get your daily thoughts and impressions written on a virtual sheet of paper. However, it only displays a simple text box, without additional options to format the font or insert images, which would be good to have within reach considering you are storing memories in there.

As for security and privacy protection, all the data is carefully stored in encrypted files. Moreover, you can encrypt the text from the 'Options' window using a custom key.

It is advisable you set the access password from the start, from the 'Options' menu. That is if you don't want strangers browsing your journal's pages. You can set both a general password to restrict access to the application itself and a journal-only password. However, you shouldn't leave the application opened and leave the PC, because once you enter the password to view journal entries, there is no prompt to enter it again until the program is restarted. As a suggestion, it would probably be easier for users to be asked whether they want to protect their journal with a password the moment they create the first entry, as it is easy to miss the password protection feature in the 'Options' menu.

The password manager that comes with In My Diary Portable is itself protected by a password. Here, you can store usernames and access keys, and use the password generator to create secure keys.

In My Diary Portable also features an address book that enables you to store all your contacts in a single place, along with their birthdays, emails, and phone numbers.

You can also take notes with In My Diary Portable. The 'Notes' section resembles a notebook, with multiple entries that are sorted in alphabetical order.
