Portable ConTEXT

Made as the portable edition of ConTEXT, this is a text editor designed for programmers. It offers support for C/C++, Java, CSS, Pascal, HTTP, JavaScript, Python and Visual Basic, among others.

Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the program files in any part of the hard disk or on a USB flash drive and just click the executable to launch ConTEXT on any computer. It shouldn't modify Windows registry settings.

It's wrapped in a user-friendly interface that features a file explorer, favorites list, and history. You can search and replace keywords in one or multiple files, select text between braces, set bookmarks, show special characters, or view the OEM charset.

It's possible to convert text to uppercase or lowercase, invert the case, insert code from template and timestamps, convert tabs to spaces or vice versa, as well as remove comments and trailing spaces.

The project can be saved to file and later resumed. You can record, manage and play macros, compare files, enable syntax highlighting for each language, view statistics (e.g. lines, non-empty lines, characters), and convert text to DOS, Unicode, UNIX (LF only), or Macintosh format (CR only).

You can enable automatic file backups, allow multiple instances, change the GUI language, minimize the tool to the systray, customize font options and highlighter colors, create user execution keys, make file associations, make the main frame stay on top of other windows, export registry settings, and so on.

No error dialogs popped up in our tests, and the tool didn't freeze or crash. It left a small footprint on system resources. To sum it up, ConTEXT comes loaded with a wide range of options and configuration settings for a programmer's text editor.
