Portable Sticker

Since most activities are now done on a computer it is practical to have a text editing utility around in case you quickly need to write something down. Luckily, applications such as Portable Sticker provide a suitable place to write ideas or memos so that you easily remember info.

The application requires a small amount of system resources in order to properly run and seeing how this is the portable version you can keep it on a removable device and take notes wherever you go.

It spends most of its time hidden in the system tray, lacking a main window. Creating a new note is done from the tray menu. It brings up a movable sticky note on your desktop on which you are free to write down info of need.

However, the application comes equipped with little else. The ability to write down text is limited to the default text format options. You cannot change color, size nor font.

You can add as many stickers as you need and also make them stay on top of other applications. Unfortunately, you permanently lose stickers once they are closed, with no integrated history tracker, nor a warning message when hitting the close button.

One of the biggest disappointments is that you cannot copy or paste text. This considerably limits its usability over long periods of time as it is not a suitable place to store website links. A web browser is brought up with the specified link, but it must be manually written down in order to function.

To sum it up, Portable Stickers main, and probably only advantage is that it requires no installation. The features list is reduced to only a few, bringing nothing new to the block. It fails to fully live up to expectations, even though it is designed as a straightforward and friendly desktop assistant.
