Being able to monitor input from various devices can be helpful for troubleshooting issues, especially if you can obtain raw data that can then be processed in any way you see fit.

Hid Raw Data Watcher is an open-source program that can display raw data from a number of devices, including keyboards, controllers and mice. It is fully portable and features a minimalistic GUI.

Once you’ve launched the application, all available HID-compliant devices will be displayed in the left-hand panel, and you can refresh the list manually if a new device is connected.

After selecting the right one, you can begin monitoring. Raw input from the device will be displayed in the main panel, and you can clear the log at any time. However, the data is cleared automatically when you stop the watcher, which is not ideal if you want to analyze the log later.

When watching a controller, the data is displayed in bytes, and changed values are marked with a red font. You can select the bytes you wish to monitor for changes so as to avoid being flooded with data that is nearly impossible to read.

The raw data can be analyzed and converted however you prefer, but make sure you extract it from the log before you stop the watcher to avoid losing it.

It is worth mentioning that Hid Raw Data Watcher does not require installation, so you can start monitoring input right away, without configuring anything beforehand. Since the application also comes in a very small package, it should be easy to use on the go.
