X-GnuCash

Designed as a portable counterpart of GnuCash, X-GnuCash is a Windows application that you can use to administer financial information in a user-friendly and secure environment. You can use it to keep track of your income and expenses, among others.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the program files anywhere on the disk and just click the executable to launch X-GnuCash. Otherwise, you can save it to a pen drive to run it on any PC with minimum effort. It doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

The GUI is not particularly attractive but it's easy to navigate, allowing you to create as many accounts as you want of different categories, such as childcare expenses, investments, fixed assets, or spouse income.

It's possible to verify and repair accounts, transfer data from one account to another, resort to a search function when dealing with large amounts of data, or edit account properties.

You can also create and keep track of a task scheduler with recurring transactions. Data can be exported and imported from financial files with various extensions, such as QIF, QFX, MT940 and DTAUS. It's possible to generate reports and review pie charts.

We haven't come across any stability issues throughout our evaluation, thanks to the fact that the tool didn't freeze, crash or display error dialogs. It ran on low CPU and memory, so it didn't hog system resources.

X-GnuCash comes loaded with rich features and intuitive settings for helping you manage financial data, and it doesn't need heavy experience with such software.
