CryptoSeed

If you're a cryptocurrency enthusiast, then there's a good chance you know what a Bitcoin recovery seed is. For those of you who are not accustomed to this term, a recovery seed is a word phrase (usually comprised out of 12 to 24 real words) that can be used to recover your Bitcoin wallets.

CryptoSeed is a simple yet very useful piece of software that offers an elegant and comprehensive solution for keeping your BIP32 recovery seeds as safe as possible. It does so by making use of some of the neatest encryption technologies to date. Simply said, both your password and recovery seed are encrypted with the Cipher Block Chaining mode of the AES-256 bit key length.

If it all sounds complicated, well, rest assured it's not. Subsequent to a simple installation process, you can start encrypting you recovery seeds in mere seconds, without any type of configuration on your part.

Simple enter your recovery seed alongside the password in the two dedicated fields and hit the "ENCRYPT" button. In a matter of seconds, you should be able to view the results in the lower part of the main window.

The newly generated encrypted seed will also be associated with a QR code which can be saved to PNG format, and it can be easily copied to your computer's clipboard with just a single mouse click. Thanks to the incredible level of randomness (SHA512 hashing), even encrypting the same seed with the same password will have very different results.

As expected, decrypting your secured recovery seeds implies you having to basically revert the process. Enter the encrypted recovery seed and the password in their designated fields and click the "DECRYPT" button and, just as before, the results are also displayed in the bottom part of the main window.

CryptoSeed is a very useful application and, while it may not be able to guarantee that your recover seed will be bullet-proof-safe, it will add a pretty comprehensive layer of protection.

There's one catch, though. You must remember your password at all costs. If you happen to forget your password then, there's really nothing that can be done, the seed will be indeterminately lost.
