Advanced PassGen Portable

To make sure your online accounts don't get hacked, it's recommended to regularly change your passwords. To maximize security, you can use a random password generator like Advanced PassGen. It's a Windows tool wrapped in an installer and portable package.

Since the portable edition doesn't require installation, you can keep it stored in your collection of portable software and fire it up whenever you need a brand new password.

The main app window has a clean appearance, where you can specify the length of the password (number of characters) and number of keys to produce. As far as key complexity goes, you can include or exclude small and capital letters, special characters, spaces, numbers, and brackets. This is the configuration prepared for casual users.

Meanwhile, experienced users can switch to advanced mode for converting passwords to Base64. In this case, you can set the minimum and maximum length, character set, and random seed.

Once the configuration is made, you can head over the list to view generated keys, including length and strength. If you're not pleased with the passwords, you can generate new ones with one click. Otherwise, you can save everything to file.

Lastly, Advanced PassGen comes bundled with an advisor that evaluates the security of the password, based on the length and type of characters used (the more, the better).

In the settings panel, you can prevent the app from automatically checking for updates, set a custom character set, change the interface theme, set the CSV delimiter, and ask the utility to export both the length and strength fields when saving files.

The program worked smoothly in our tests, generating keys quickly. It had minimum impact on system performance. All aspects considered, Advanced PassGen offers a straightforward solution and practical options to maximizing the security of your online accounts by creating unbreakable passwords.
