Create automatic backups of your PaintTool SAI projects to avoid losing your work accidentally, with this unobtrusive, open-source program #PaintTool Backup #PaintTool Saver #PaintTool SAI Backup #PaintTool SAI #PaintTool #Backup
PaintTool SAI is a popular application for making digital art, but it lacks an important feature that can prevent occasional mishaps – autosaving. If you’re genuinely worried about losing your work, however, you can try a third-party utility.
SAI Autosaver is an open-source app that runs in the background and creates automatic backups of your projects. It works with version 1 and 2 of PaintTool SAI, and it comes with a decent set of configuration options.
Only minimal configuration is required to get started. Before anything else, you should go to the Settings tab and enable project backups. You can also change the default save location.
Then, just run PaintTool SAI and select the version of the painting utility you are using. If everything is working as intended, you should see a message in the SAI Autosaver window indicating that it is waiting for a new project to be started.
The automatic backup interval can be set to values between 30 seconds and 2 hours, which should cover pretty much any user’s requirements. You can also create manual backups if you want to make sure your most recent modifications are saved.
If a project has been opened but never saved, the application can display a notification in the main window. This feature can be disabled, but it is important to remember that SAI Autosaver cannot create backups if the project has not been saved in PaintTool SAI at least once.
Once you’ve set it up, you can send the application to the system tray and continue working on your project. However, the current save progress is displayed in the PaintTool SAI taskbar icon, a potentially useful feature that cannot, however, be disabled.
In conclusion, SAI Autosaver is a handy tool for PaintTool SAI users who want to make sure they never lose their work if they forget to save regularly. It worked well during our tests and seemed to do the job, but the taskbar icon progress feature is quite distracting and users should have the option of disabling it.
