To make things easier, you can rely on a program like DownloadsOrganizer. As its name suggests, this small utility is designed to organize files in your Downloads folder automatically, making it much easier to find what you need.

The application only requires Java to be available on your computer, and you don’t need to go through an installation process before using it. Just launch it from any location, even portable storage devices.

One of the advantages of using DownloadsOrganizer is that the utility has no footprint to speak of. It is shut down immediately after organizing your files, and it leaves no traces behind anywhere on your PC.

The utility could not be simpler to use – just launch it and watch as the files on your Downloads folder are organized in only a few seconds. When it is done, all items should be placed in new directories based on file type.

However, it doesn’t let you organize files in any other way, such as by download date, and it is only designed to process the Downloads folder, thus limiting its usefulness.
