File splitter

Large files are often difficult to store and share, as certain devices have limited storage capacities and sharing services often impose restrictions on file size. For these reasons, and more, a splitting utility can prove to be very useful.

File splitter is a small program that does exactly what its name suggests – it enables you to divide a file into two or more parts, which can then be joined again later. It is very easy to use, but it can only handle files under 1GB in size.

The downloadable archive contains an executable file and some documentation. You don’t need to go through an installation process before launching the program, so you can put it to use pretty much instantly.

It is also worth noting that no files or registry entries will be left behind on the host PC, and you can even launch it from a portable storage device.

Before loading an item, you need to specify how many pieces it needs to be split into. Once that is done, just click the Split button and navigate to the file’s location.

After the process has been completed, you will be able to find the parts in the file’s source directory, and you can join them back together with this utility. However, keep in mind that the original file will be replaced with the new one if it already exists in this folder.

Unfortunately, File splitter has a significant drawback that limits its usefulness – if a file is over 1GB in size, it cannot be split into multiple parts. Given that users are most likely to need to process very large files, this is a pretty big issue.

This utility can prove useful in certain situations, but the fact that it cannot split files above 1GB makes it a poor choice for most users.
