Portable ADS Scanner

Portable ADS Scanner is a desktop software tool that enables you to search through your computer hard disks for files that contain ADS (Alternate Data Streams) with as little effort as possible.

The application opts for a simple, clean and straightforward interface. The intuitive settings make sure that it can be configured by any kind of user, even those less familiarized with this type of software.

Basically, all you have to do is select the folder or the drive that you wish to search for ADS, and then proceed with the task. During the scan, a progression bar is shown to inform you about its status.

Once detected and listed in the main window, you are given the possibility to analyze details, such as full path, name and size of each identified ADS. More than that, you can view the contents of each ADS, save the complete scan log and checked stream to disk, and more.

Portable ADS Scanner lets you locate all Alternate Data Streams in the Windows directory, on all NTFS drives, or in any other folder you indicate, whether we're talking about local, network or removable locations. You can set the application to ignore all the identified safe Alternate Data Streams contents.

During our evaluation, we have noticed that the program carries out the searching tasks very quickly, but this depends on the size of the drives or folders scanned. No errors showed up throughout the entire process. The overall performance of the computer was not affected due to the low usage of CPU and memory.

Taking all things into account, Portable ADS Scanner proves to be a fast and reliable application that allows its users to scan all local hard disks and list all the identified files that have Alternate Data Streams attached.
