Portable Quick Config

Every aspect of your computer is tracked by Windows, and custom sets of actions can be saved so you can return to a functional configuration in the event that something unexpected affects functionality. With this in mind, Portable Quick Config wants to make it easy to create profiles with different Windows settings and apply them at the press of a button.

Just like the name clearly points out, this is the edition of Quick Config which doesn’t require installation in order to function. As such, you can carry it around on a USB flash drive along with configuration files to apply on other computers. Note that the target system needs to be almost identical to prevent issues.

There are no default profiles to work with so sooner or later you need to create one. The process can take a little while, but not because of the difficulty level, rather the variety of info fields you fill in. General options let you specify a name, description, group, icon, and even a hotkey command to instantly apply the profile later on.

Apart from general options, the navigation panel lets you easily access settings for applications, network, system, browsers, and desktop. Each of these categories come with multiple sub-items, such as programs to start when applied, new network settings or routing, resolution, audio devices, or desktop display settings.

Most areas offer the possibility to automatically detect current settings, which can also be viewed in greater detail inside the main window. Profiles show up there as well. These can either be activated via hotkeys, the main window, tray menu, or special shortcuts you can place on the desktop.

Bottom line is that a computer can be visually and technically tweaked in a variety of ways. Portable Quick Config makes it possible to save these settings and even create new profiles which you can apply to test new hardware and software components.
