Portable ServiceTweaker

In order for you to be able to fully enjoy all your computer has to offer, Windows keeps some processes and services running in the background. Third-party programs can also run this way, and you might not want all of them to automatically run on startup. In this regard, Portable ServiceTweaker lets you decide which can run with Windows, and which needs to stop.

A pretty good advantage is that the application skips you the time and effort of going through a setup process, giving you the possibility to use it on other computers directly from a USB flash drive. System registries remain intact, so you don’t have to worry about the target PC’s health status.

The visual design is pretty minimalistic, but this presents a few advantages as well. On the one hand, you can quickly identify all functions you get to work with, and little to no experience is required for accommodation. On the other hand, the whole process of tweaking services takes only a little while, since everything is in plain sight.

On the lower status bar, you get to see the total number of services on your system, as well as active ones, disabled, or those you manually configured. The list shows services in a table with column headers for name, startup type, and current status. You can’t sort by simply clicking column headers, but there is a dedicated group option for a better view.

The status of a service can be toggled at the press of a button, or from context menu controls. The same goes for the startup type, which you can set to either automatic, manual, or disabled. Unfortunately, you can’t get more details about a services, so you need to figure out the source from the name.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Portable ServiceTweaker can be used to quickly change the status, and startup type of any service installed on your computer. It’s best used with care, especially since you can’t get more details, and turning off the wrong services can affect system stability.
