Screen Off

Many laptops do not offer users the option of turning off the display manually, which can be inconvenient while also using up your device’s battery for no reason. Thankfully, there are third-party utilities that can come to your aid.

Screen Off is one of them, a lightweight program that runs in the system tray that enables you to turn off your PC’s monitor with just a couple of mouse clicks. It is easy to use and very unobtrusive.

As you can probably tell from the screenshot, this program is very simple to use. Once you’ve launched it, just click the system tray icon to bring up a menu that will let you turn off your monitor or close the utility.

While only a couple of mouse clicks are required, it would have been great if it were possible to power off your display by just clicking the icon once, and a customizable global hotkey would also have been helpful.

Screen Off is a very small program, and you can run the single executable file from any location. Nothing needs to be installed, and removing the utility is as simple as deleting the file.

The application icon looks right at home in the Windows 10 taskbar, and you can leave it running in the background at all times without worrying about its negligible resource impact.

If you’re looking for a software solution for turning off your PC’s monitor, Screen Off is definitely a good choice. It lets you power off the display with just a couple of mouse clicks, and it is fully portable. A few extra features would be welcome, but they are certainly not essential.
