Argente - StartUp Manager Portable

Designed as the portable counterpart of Argente - StartUp Manager, this is a simple software application which gives you the possibility to examine and manage programs which automatically run at system startup. For example, you can disable them to improve Windows boot time.

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can exact the program files to a custom directory on the disk and just the EXE file to launch Argente. Plus, there is the option to save it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly and without previous installers.

An important aspect worth taking into consideration is that it does not add new entries to the Windows registry besides the autostart apps, nor create extra files on the disk without your permission, thus leaving the disk clean after removing the program.

The UI is represented by a normal window with a clear-cut structure, where the app automatically lists all autostart programs upon initialization. You can view their names and full paths on the disk, as well as make a custom selection and disable entries.

Alternatively, you can delete their entries, edit their path and optionally add command-line arguments, open the containing folder, as well as refresh the list. A search function is put at your disposal.

It is also possible to add a new program entry to the startup list, switch to another interface language, ask the tool to remember its window position and size when exiting, back up and restore settings, and apply a proxy configuration to connect to the Internet for software updates.

As expected, the program does not put a strain on computer performance, thanks to the fact that it uses low CPU and RAM. It had a good response time in our tests and did not cause Windows to hang, crash or pop up error messages.

Although it does not contain rich features or customization preferences, Argente - Startup Manager delivers a simple solution to users who want to improve their Windows boot time by removing autostart entries, or to add new ones to the list.
