A simple, accessible software utility that can help users view thorough data about existing certificates, while also giving them the option to export them, as well as import new ones #App Certificate #Certificate Management #Certificate Viewer #Certificate #Certification #Validation
App certificates are rather nebulous for most users. Unless you encounter a certificate problem when looking to install an app, there’s not much of a reason to concern yourself with app certification — as an end-user, at least. That’s a bit different for developers, who have to concern themselves with getting their software signed one way or another.
In any case, a certificate management app can come in handy for certain users. That’s precisely what this aptly-named Certificate Manager app is all about, as it lets you view all the respective certificates for your system, as well as import or export anything noteworthy.
The program is an effort to provide a certificate management utility that marries form with function in a user-friendly way. I’d say it succeeds in doing so, as viewing any certificates relevant for your system is a simple process that is fairly straightforward.
To start, you can view any personal certificates for the user profiles on your system. Double-clicking an entry will provide more detailed information about the issuer, the certification’s validity, thumbprint, and other technicalities.
Intermediate and Trusted Root certificates also have sections of their own on the interface. They’re all neatly presented, as you can readily see their expiration dates and issuers without needing to go through each of them individually.
By way of the File menu, users can select an app executable to inspect its certification. This worked as intended during my testing, so no problems there.
Bear in mind that you can also export any existing certificates, as well as import new ones. Importing doesn’t work for executables under the File menu but can be used in the other sections without issues.
Certificate Manager works well for what it does. It’s a certificate viewer with import and export capabilities, offering all such functionalities in an intuitive, no-nonsense way.
